CJ's Sho-Me Akitas is a small kennel located in a small rural town about an hour west of St. Louis, MO. on 7 acres.
We are dedicated to preserving the Akita breed; striving to produce healthy, sound, stable Akitas with correct structure and temperament by adhering to the standard (to the best of our ability, there is no such thing as a perfect dog), competing in AKC conformation shows, OFA & CAER testing, and constantly trying to educate and improve ourselves. There is ALWAYS more to learn.

This website is also an excellent source of general information about the breed, training, events, and things you can do with your Akita such as scent work and fast cat. The dogs thoroughly enjoy these performance events and they are a great opportunity for bonding.
Please consider supporting an Akita rescue by donating, fostering or adopting. We personally set up a monthly donation that is applied automatically to the ACA rescues. Our rescues have been overflowing lately with an influx of backyard breeders who are not willing to take their dogs back and selling puppies to homes who did not do their research and are not equipped to have an Akita.
