Please visit our facebook page to see pictures and videos or reach out to us via email or text. Or, you can go ahead and fill out our application, we will review it and get in contact with you via the email or phone number you list on the application.
Available adults/older puppies: We have a 2 year old male (littermate brother to CH Solo) we are considering placing into an approved home. For showing, juniors or companion.
Contact: Email- cjs.sho.me.akitas@gmail.com; or text Barb at 636-384-6196, or Casey at 636-235-6070; these are the best ways to reach us. You can also call either of these phone numbers and leave a voicemail. Feel free to simply fill out our application and we will reach out to you after reviewing it.
Apply: An APPROVED home application is REQUIRED. You can click the button below, towards the bottom of this page, or click HERE to submit an application if you are interested in acquiring a puppy or adult from us. Filling out the application is NOT a sign of commitment from either party. We reserve the right to decline any home for any reason. If your application is approved we will let you know and talk more.
Contract: If you are approved and commit to getting an Akita from us, our companion or show contract must be signed by both parties before proceeding. Our contracts are straight forward and the intention is to ensure our beloved pups are well cared for. We are not looking to "micro-manage" but do expect any pup that leaves us to be fed quality food, receive regular veterinary care, live in your home, and be treated and loved as a family member. Please remember puppies are FRAGILE, even large Akita puppies. They are extra susceptible to injuries during the growth phase. It is important to limit exercise and play within reason, especially with other large dogs and also important to prevent them from becoming too "heavy".
Pet puppies are to be spayed or neutered at 18-24 months of age to allow for healthy growth and carefully managed so they do not reproduce. Breeding, either on purpose or accident, will result in a monetary penalty per our contract. We do enforce this. We take guarding ours and other's bloodlines very seriously as we have all put so much work into our dogs and reputations.
Show puppies are to be shown and finished by age 2 and have all passing OFA and CAER tests done before breeding to approved dogs. If you are new to showing, we are more than happy to help guide you so long as we feel confident that you truly want to do things right.
Deposit: If you are approved and have signed our contract, we will accept a non-refundable deposit of $500.
Picks: Pet puppy picks are made in order of deposit placements BUT we reserve the right to "hold" all puppies until 8 week evaluations to choose our keepers. Show quality puppies might be held back for show homes. We do try to assist in matching you to a puppy who will fit your needs/lifestyle etc in terms of energy levels, etc.
Our number one priority is a successful placement for our pups so they can thrive in the perfect home for (hopefully) 12+ years.
Costs: Our pet puppy price is $3,000 and show puppy price is $3,500. After paying the $500 deposit; the remaining balance will be due BEFORE pick up or shipping.
Small rehoming fee applies to retired adults.
Payment: Cash and Zelle are preferred. We can also accept cashiers checks and personal checks if cleared before pick up.
Pick up & shipping: We prefer pick up from our home but shipping via flight is an option as well, at the buyer's expense. We will deliver to St. Louis Lambert Airport free of charge or meet within a reasonable distance at no/low cost. We have shipped many puppies in cargo successfully but If you prefer for your puppy to fly in cabin we are certainly happy to help arrange that but it must be scheduled at exactly 8 weeks due to their size.
Usually Barb, Casey or another family member can transport out of state via driving or as flight nanny to travel with the puppy in cabin.
We will NOT send our puppies off on ground transport with any company but sometimes we can arrange for a pup to hitch a ride with a trusted member of the dog community on the way to or from dog shows, etc.
What your puppy will go home with:
-Every puppy sees our usual vet, whom we have been going to for many years and trust explicitly, for their first exams, microchip implant and vaccinations at about 7 to 7 1/2 weeks. So, they will come with first vaccinations done and veterinary records.
-Printed pedigree
-A bag of the food they've been eating, a new and/or favorite toy, a small blanket, a collar and leash. We are open to sending other items, please feel free to make requests.
-A new custom canvas tote with our logo and a folder to put supplies and documents in
-I have started working on a document that will cover general information about raising a puppy, what we recommend for products such as food, grooming supplies, etc. This document will go home with every puppy and we hope it will make life easier for everyone during the fun but sometimes challenging transition; for families who may be new to raising a puppy or are just "rusty".
Reminder: If we don't have what you are looking for, you are welcome to contact us and we will be happy to steer you in the direction of another reputable breeder or a reputable rescue. There are many options and all of the Akita rescues have wonderful dogs and sometimes puppies in need of great adoptive homes or foster homes.
